Winter Running Clothes

ANSWERED

Hi all,

Just wondering what other runners wear in the winter for their runs?  I've been wearing a wicking layer (t-shirt), a insulating layer (fleece) and a wind layer.  In addition I wear winter running pants and a hat.  I find no issue while running but during my cool down my legs turn to ice.  Any recommendations for warmer leg wear?

Thanks yarddog.  I actually have the winter thermal tights in that link.  I'm still having issues.  Maybe I should add a layer or upgrade to the extreme weather pants.  I should move put of Canada....

When I lived in Northern Ontario, I wore a thermal layer, then running tights, and then wind pants.

Do the warm-up and cool-down indoors. Go for the run and get back inside, no standing around.

Yes, moving to California could help, but in the USA they shoot people who are running Cat Happy

I have yet to find a way to keep my legs warm too. I've been biking and it's been warming up a bit in my area, but last month when it was colder I would wear a shirt, a fleece jacket, a sweatshirt, gloves, and a hat.

I try to focus on keeping my core warm so that my body won't be taking away from keeping my limbs warm, but at the end of my bike ride, my legs are really cold and I usually have to take a warm shower right away to warm back up.

If anyone has suggestions for keeping legs warm during winter workouts, I would love to know too.

I give layers a go then.  Hopefully that helps.

For me a wind layer is a must, and under that I wear something that feels nice that close to my body (let's face it - wind layer is not there to be comfortable). So the first layer has to be nice and comfty, and top has to protect me. The in between changes with weather conditions.

For the bottoms I usually wear my comfty women's exercise tights. And in case I need it, I layer it with something else Smiley Happy
