You have got to give your body time to heal. I train clients who have had surgery and I am constantly holding them back for 6-8 weeks (depending on what the dr says). You can't put too much energy into working out while your body is healing or you might get sick or not heal properly. Take the time now to learn something new that you can work on more slowly (for example, try a new type of yoga or learn pilates and do the moves slowly or what about tai chi?) Then, after you are ready to jump back in fully you will have a new routine to add to your workout schedule. And don't forget there are often exercises you can do while healing that have nothing to do with the surgical site. One client had wrist surgery and was told no workouts involving her hands/arms/shoulders and no jumping exercises. So I made her to seriously intense core exercises (all on a mat or fitball) and she was SORE *grin* and lost a few inches on her middle in the meantime. Find out what you can do and enjoy that.
