any estimated guesses on daily steps from ancient times?

I was wondering if anyone has done any estimated guesses on what daily steps migh of been in the ancient cultures like the midle east etc. I know a study was done on the amish and had numbers in the 18,000 range for the men but I'm guessing our ancestors would of moved more each day then even the old order amish men do today. Just wondering so I could have some new goals to reach

Wow, that is interesting to think about! I bet nomadic people averaged around 50,000. That is a straight guess, I honestly have no idea. It all probably depends on the time of year too. Some nomadic groups moved more than others. So who knows, I'm not sure if there is enough data that could really give an estimate of what they're movement was for a given day.
