Hey, I find the best time to work out is either first thing in morning before family is awake or after they have all gone to school and work. If I dont' get it done first thing, I end up doing all the "other things" that moms end up doing all day. No time for me.

I usually eat nothing before a work out, maybe some water and lemon. After I love to replenish with plain water and fresh fruit.

They say that coffee or tea can enhance performance to a degree. Also that breakfast is really important over all your other meals. I have several "workouts" in the course of the day. If I'm off from work hiking early morning at the nature reserve is good for me.

If I have work it's physically demanding and 6-8 hours on my feet full tilt.

No matter that I'm off from work or not I walk each of my pups late in the day. They are much too strong to walk both together, so each gets an hour walk.

When you work out is what is a good time for you:)

Best time - is when you'll actually do it.

To that, everyone is different.

For many, later in the day, though more convenient, also allows the most chance for interruptions and sidetracked.

I prefer later, it's getting done, unless something extreme happened. Besides, not a morning person, workout would suffer.

I'll do short recovery type runs in morning, because that doesn't matter. But a workout that only makes improvements if it is done hard - won't be done as hard in the morning, so why waste my time and effort then.

Food totally depends on how far away from last meal or snack, and purpose of workout. That morning run slow and short is fine fasted with no food prior. The evening lifting better not have dinner too close, or if before dinner, better have a snack prior to have the energy to hit it hard.

If doing endurance cardio and plan on another another session tomorrow, then I make sure within 30 min of stopping to get in needed carbs & protein in 4:1 ratio for best recovery. Otherwise post workout food doesn't matter, and usually a meal is close enough anyway to make it.

I do best with carb/protein ratios 9:7 prior, upwards of 400 cal within 1 hr is digested just fine for many calm snacks.

I have found over time that if I eat a light meal (like Yoplait Yogurt and a small box of raspberries) and then walk/jog/run for at least 3.5 miles at around 3-3.5 MPH, then I'm getting a good workout and burning the calories before they turn into fat cells...

I like to go for the same type of additional walk after dinner.  Same thing for after the morning intake of calories.

Back when I was in basic training for AFROTC, we would get up at 4:30 AM and do calisthenics and then run for 1.5 miles BEFORE breakfast.  But, that was a long long long time ago....

When I pick a day for inside weight liftfing or recumbent bike riding, I'll usually do shorter and smaller segments with more of the segments (e.g., five 8 mile recumbent bike rides at around 15 MPH).

Everyone is different. I tired doing my ecercising in the afternoon-after I was done with homeschooling. I didn't like that though. Had a harder time getting mentally prepared to change into my workout outfit and get sweaty after being comfortable for the first half of the day 🙂

I have a lot of energy in the morning so I'm now waking up at 4:45 and starting my exercise between 6:30-7:00. It wakes me up and then taking a nice hot shower after just gets me ready to tackle the day!

I use to like working out in the morning, but I walk a lot at work so I wait till after supper/dinner time now.. I feel I sleep better at night since I have changed my workout time.

Personally I am never a morning person.  I've been actively working out at nights now from 11pm-2am.  2 hours on the treadmill and 1 hour on weights and other equipments.  It works for me.

Any time is always the right time to workout.  Just find whatever fits your schedule.  And eat healthy!

I love working out in the morning right before work. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I do weight training. Tuesday and Thursday are my basketball days. On Saturdays I just freestyle. I always have a protein shake after. Just the powder and water. I'm so drained after the work day that I prefer to just go home and relax instead of going to the gym.

I'm not a morning person but I have started adding morning wokrouts to my routine. But only if I get to bed on time. I actually do not eat before working out. I never have. Food makes me want to sit back and do nothing.

If I can't get up in the morning, I workout as soon as I get home. I'm the type that if I sit down too long, I'm not getting back up.

My system works for me but probably will not work for others. Especially the eating in the morning part.
