It doesn't for me. I just use an app on my phone (MapMyRide) to track and save the ride data. It just uses GPS data to estimate your speed and distance. It's fairly accurate compared to the computer on my bike.

I get pretty good step count seen with the Zip on my side, check out my step counts for Wed 4 pm for 2 hrs.

Of course, doing 90 cadence average, that is not near correct even for non-"steps", nor even half, so it misses a few.

Now on the calories if you click over, that's my own manually logged, it's going to base calorie burn on formula based on you taking actual steps - which you are not on a bike. It is very low on it's estimate - hence the requirement to manually log non-step based activity. Or even hill running/walking or carrying extra weight on walks.

I use MapMyRun or WalkMyDog; both work with Fitbit and will let each count miles or exercise as you can actually tell the programs what you are doing.  I use WalkMyDog and it tracks info to my Fitbit.  Love it!
