OK so I am wondering if the fitbit tracks steps on the Gazel?

If you mean this (Gazelle), then the answer is no: it's some kind of elliptical, which Fitbit isn't good at tracking. You will need to log it as activity.

The One should work well. I have the Ultra (older version of One) and it tracks steps perfectly on ellipticals, gazelles, treadmills. As long as you are standing up and moving your body rhythmically the Ultra seems to figure it out pretty well. It also counts 'steps' on a rower (which is just odd *grin*) but not on a bike. I wear it on my bra strap, btw.
