A HRM is meant for real exercise. Why would wear it to bed???
You should wear your HRM when doing real exercise. Its not an all day device. Fitbit is an all day device.
Also Fitbit is not a HRM either

I worn mine on a couple of occasions, and recorded my HR with two separate apps. I compared the results with the sleep pattern obtained with my Fitbit One. You can read about this experiment in this post.
I wouldn't do this every night, tough
The Basis B1 is an activity tracker that has an integrated HRM. It's designed to be worn 24 hours a day. Maybe it's what @stacer is using?
