how do I get my legs more defined?

Hi Fitbitters!

I just received my Flex to track my progress for getting back inshape.  Challenging myself and seeing my results are  great ways to do that.    At the same time I want to see other results as well.

I have always had muscular legs, in and out of shape.  But I want to see that definition again.

Any advice?

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks,

:womanhappy  Weight training will build muscle, and cardio will burn fat. You can have strong defined muscles, but if your layer of fat is high for your body, the muscle definition will be hidden under the fat. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn all day long, even at rest! I'm working on my abs, strong but I can't see them thru the fat.

Thanks Boo16!

I do have less fat there than the rest of my body, but I guess there is more to burn!  that is helpful to know for all muscles as well!

Maybe I will post some before and after's soon.

I can't wait to get back to a regular running routine!  I bet that will help.

I have always had big legs. Also for beeing female. A real pain in the arse when trying to by boots etc XP

That is just part of my body shape and how my muscles work. But like you, I would like to have them more defined. For that I have to lose more weight, but also keep on strengthening them. Walking/running seems to be very efficiant for me. But what works most efficiently for the defining and keeping those muscles strong seems to be walking/running up steps/hills or in mountain/uneven terrain. When I don`t have the time or energy for that, I turn to single leg squats 10x3 rep on each leg.

As long as there is any fight left, don't ever give up! Keep in mind, this also means there has to be space for acceptance too.
