insomnia with jogging

Hello,

I've been walking 2+ miles everyday for the past 8 months to help me sleep (insomnia) with little success so I increased my intensity and started walk/jogging the 2+ miles and it seems my insomnia became much worse. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Help!!  CampusNurse

Hello CampusNurse,

Well I am not an expert in (insomnia). However this seems to me to be your adrenal glands activating from your walking and jogging. I believe anything dealt with body and mind stress usually doesn't help with insomnia. Try Yoga or mediation, which calms the nerves and eases the stress level down. A lot of free yoga and meditation videos are on YouTube and you can always get a DVD or attend some classes. I hope this may help. I personally experience yoga and it helped me tremendously on my stress and restlessness. Good Luck!

At what time of the day do you do your walking/jogging? It is preferable not to do it in the evening, when you are close to bedtime.

I do my walking exercise in the early morning but mainly because it allows me to do when I'm most alert and fresh, unlike the afternoons.  I"m an early riser so mornings work for me.  I also have insomnia and trying different things to help.
