"Workout" that doesn't feel like a workout...

What workout do you do that doesn't feel like working out?

Swimming is my favorite for pleasure exercise.  But if I am power walking somewhere scenic, I can walk all day!

I second hiking! I took a 5 hour hike the other day and I pretty much didn't feel it until the end (when we basically were hiking up a 90 degree hill).  My glutes and quads were on fire the next day!  I also discovered that gardening for a couple of hours, pulling weeds, using hedge clippers, etc., made for a nice strength training session! I gardened two days ago and today my forearms and shoulders are feeling it! I would have never guessed that I was working out my upper body at the time. I also enjoy playing tennis. This usually gets my heartrate up in spirts and I always have fun while I'm playing 🙂 Yoga is also nice, and while it doesn't get your heartrate up like other activities do, it will definitely work your muscles!!

I think it is important to find something that we enjoy doing that also offers exercise.  It's also a good idea to switch up our exercise routines to work different muscles and not get burnt out. A new climbing gym opened up in my city and I've always been interested in trying that as a hobby, so I'm looking forward to hopefully adding that into my healthy lifestyle routine!

Take up a competitive sport that is physically demanding. You won't even notice it. I can burn 1,000 calories playing squash and not even look at the clock once. If I tried to burn 1,000 calories on an elliptical I would collapse from boredom.

I'm not saying you have to play squash, the world is your oyster for sport options. Join a league or a team so you've got some accountability.

Im a rock climber, runner, and weight lifter. I love running and lifting for fitness' sake but it defnitely feels like a workout. Rock climbing on the other hand is what really helps me stay in shape because to me its just fun. It doesnt ever feel like going through motions and i never get tired of the challenge.
