You should not wear it while swimming: https://help.fitbit.com/customer/portal/articles/1301478-can-i-wear-my-force-swimming-

The Flex tracker is one of the most water resistance trackers we have. You can definitely go swimming with the Flex but it is not built to track your swimming distance. For that, you would have to log it as an activity on the Dashboard. (For more information on that, click here). For more information on the Flex's water resistance check this out!

Thanks for the info @RickyFitbit - summer is coming and I was worried about my Flex at the waterpark and the beach (not to mention hiking to swimming holes). I want to track the walking portion, but was worried about ruining my fitbit in the water. I won't worry about it now!

I wear my FitBit Flex when I swim, usually 2 - 3 times a week for 30-120 minutes at a time and have even worn it surfing (that was because I forgot to take it off) and don't have any problems with swimming or water use. If you're going to a water park I wouldn't wear it only because I'd worry about losing it if the band comes unsnapped and it falls off. That is why I try to remember to take it off for surfing, when I get tumbled I don't want to come up without my Flex.
