Did you mean:

water intake vs decaf tea or coffee

ANSWERED

HI I am new to the Fitbit - 3 days in.

I am logging my food all ok but wondered about my water intake?

I drink decaf tea, and normal coffee and was wondering if I can include them as "water intake" as if I start to drink plain water also - I have problems at night needing to get up to pee Smiley Frustrated

I log my skimmed milk and tea / coffee separately anyway.

Many thanks for any help Smiley Happy

Studies have shown the diuretic effect of caffeine does NOT cancel out the water you benefit from it - so it still counts.

Plus all the water in food.

Studies listed at the bottom.

The best way to tell, unless you take supplements or have illness that ruins this effect, is at least pale yellow to clear pee means you are getting enough water. More won't have some magical effect on weight loss or body health. It may help a meal feel fuller by expanding the fiber in it. It may help not be as hungry between meals by having something in the stomach.

Tea and coffee are considered diuretics which means they take the water out of your system. You take them in but pee them out faster than regular water. If you worry about your water intake and having to go to the bathroom alot try eating fruits that are high in water like watermelon and apples. I drink V8 Fusion light, it only has 50 calories in a glass and provides me with the necessary fruits and vegetables when I don't have fruit around.

Many thanks for your reply.... I checked over 24 hours re colour etc and found that as it was "pale" then I must be taking in enough water in the form of liquid and foods such as melon, peaches and grapes. 🙂
