Any suggestions for eating on the run? / snacks?

I'm a UPS driver and my job is all about being on the go all day long. Usually my meals are real quick and sometimes just a sandwich eaten here and there while driving down a long gravel driveway.

I'm off this week and on Tuesday started my Fitbit One / MFP healthier,,lower calorie eating lifestyle, but previously ya work I would eat as follows.....

My typical day's lunch box would include a couple of honey turkey sandwiches on white bread, 4 Nature's Valley Sweet and Salty Granola Bars, a half dozen strawberries with water or green tea to drink. I usually have some peanut butter crackers to snack on also if it's a super long day. Sometimes I will rotate out cantaloupe, bananas, or apples instead of strawberries.

I was just wondering what suggestions anyone might have for foods that are healthy, low in calories and easy to eat on the run.

Hi.. just a few quick tips that I found helped enormously when your on the go all the time..

Carbs -rice, pasta, white breads and rolls .. change to wholemeal (not granary or seedy breads), potatoes try to avoid them.

Avoid sauces and salad dressings as much as possible and go for light.

If somethings low in fat for example yogurt its high in sugar, try greek yogurt and add honey maple syrup or fruits... berries are best if your trying to loose weight.

Bananas are great for an instant energy boost when your weak tired lathargic BUT they are really really high in sugar and dont eat more than 30 a day you can actually overdose on them and kill yourself!

WATER , drink plenty at least 8 glasses a day but dont go crazy as my poor sister found out (she was drinking 8 litres a day) you can drown your kidneys if you go crazy drinking water.

Your 5 a day .. fruitt and veg.. fruit is high in sugar so if you have to watch your sugar intake eat veg and salads.

Protein bars are a god send on the go.

sausage mince meat burgers all processed meats and foods are a no go.. get some real meat (chicken and turkey is best) and remove the skin and fats where possible.

Fish or any sea food mixed in with a salad quick and easy and healthy.

Im no expert btw.  I'm always looking about reading info on mfp and I'm new here , but I did lose over 50lb in a few months on mfp recently just sitting on my bottom and no exerciseSmiley Wink

Hope this helps, good luck with your healthy transformation!

Boiled eggs are a great quick snack. Also string cheese and a handful of raw nuts

My salvation have been the pre-portioned hummus sabra cups and baby carrots, babybel cheeses, sanisimas (corn crackers), dole fruit cups, special k strudels, 0 calorie meringues, be light flavored water and the tiniest jars of spices to carry dressings.
