Anyone tried refined organic coconut oil to fry fish?

I tried it last night for the first time.  I rarely fry foods, but read about this in the wheat belly cook book.  I used 2 1/2 tablespoons for two filets of spanish mackeral.  I made coating for the fish out of 6 tbls of ground almonds, 2 tbls of ground golden flax seed, 1/4 tsp of cayene pepper, 1/4 tsp of himalayan pink salt, and a little fresh ground pepper.  Used  1 egg yolk and a little  skim mild to dip the fillets prior to coating.  Turned out well.

between using it for cooking and my bulletproof coffee, we go through a LOT of coconut oil.  it's awesome stuff!

if you have access to costco, you can get a big container (just short of 5 lbs) for about $23.

we use it frequently when we fry up some fish or something similar, it works really well and tastes fantastic....it does have a lower smoke point than most oils so be mindful if you live in a condo or apartment and open up the windows before you start - or you'll have the smoke alarms going off - trust me we know from experience 🙂

Thanks. We're finding it very good too. I used just 1 1/2 tbls to fry salmon patties this week.  Pleasant aroma from the coconut.  I had been reading about the refined versus un refined, so bought some un refined today to try--different texture.  Take care.

I have a question. I have seen a lot of you using coconut oil I found it at the grocery store but noticed it has a lot more calories. Do you add those calories in your food also?

Well for me i dont count calories as a part of my diet. Healthy fats are a big part of our diet, and simple and most complex carbs are not. Our diet it is more about eating clean and healthy, and less about counting.

Is anyone out there doing the 5:2 diet and/or the Fast Excercise (also called high intensity  or HIT?

I have been doing the 5:2 since New Year's.  I have never been able to stick to any type of restrictive diet. This works wonderfully for me.  The weight has been coming off slowly but I don't have a lot to lose and I'm not being very aggressive about it.  I would suggest reading the book if you are interested.  Lots of people seem to pick up a few tidbits of information and start fasting and make a lot of mistakes which impedes your progress.

I am on it too. I would appreciate feedback and support on that subject. Will you be my friend? ( I feel like it is a Valentine) I will attempt to request that officially.
Today is a fast day. So far I?ve had ratatouille with turkey. I do not feel that it is difficult at all on fast days.
Good luck to you.

Unrefined coconut oil is the better option for cooking or consuming, the refined you can use on your skin. I have been using coconut oil for over a year now. coconut oil information check out the site attached, I love this brand. Good luck ♥
