For what my feedback is worth, Iwould recommend getting a myfitnesspal.com account and allow it to import into this program. I personally think soooooo many more foods are available there.

What do you mean Allow it to Import into this?

You can link the two online accounts together, so you are able to log your food on myfitnesspal.com and it will send all the data to the fitbit account.

The food database doesn't even have something a basic as an avacado. It does, however, have three pre-packaged, processed foods with avacado in the descriptions. 😞

I have tried myfitnesspal, lose it, and now fitbit. All i can say is that they all are very poor. Inconsistant measurement style between ingredient types, recipe creation is a major chore, basically processed package food is the only real feasable thing to track, or just hope you get close by selecting like food.
I dont know that i have a solution to the problem yet, as of now i am simply not tracking food, just relying on my common sense ans body to regulate properly when i am hungry and when i am full and don't need to be eating.

l have just stopped logging food - you could spend your life searching for clean raw foods and I'm just not that interested. It takes more time to log the food than to prepare and eat it!
I had previously looked at a free site "Sparkpeople" the food issue is the same but they have alot of activities to choose from with calories already calibrated - even loght housework and playing with children. with fitbit I had to look up the calories burnt for kayaking.....
So far the only advantage of the fitbit over my old pedometer is the wristband, otherwise it is a clunky system.

I agree the food logging portion of Fitbit is lacking. The Calorie Count website seems to have a better (and easier) food selection. Hopefully Fitbit can improve this function.

I had the same issue until I spelled it correctly. If you search "avocado" you will find it!

Same sort of problem with "potatoe" or "potato" - and plurals can be a problem too
