I dont live in the USA and all our food is in KJ. Frustrating having to get a converter as well to track food.....

No, I'm afraid not. There is a feature suggestion to allow us to choose between calories and kilojoules and if you'd like to add your vote you can find it here:
Note, though, fitbit's comment that they currently have no plans to make this change.

As a workaround, you could track your food in MyFitnessPal or Lose It!, both of which appear to support kilojoules, as well as sync with Fitbit.
