I don't drink a lot of water but find I can sip on hot green tea all day - no problem. Hence my question... Can I count green tea as part of my water intake?

Yes tea does contain a very small amount of fluoride. Remember it's a natural fluoride in small amounts, not fabricated from chemicals or oils. In the US it is usually added to the water and of course added to most tooth pastes and I understand too much could be harmful. Have you read the back of your tooth paste lately, If you swallow while brushing you are told to call the emergency room for instructions.

Old school: coffee or tea without sugar or creamer counts as water. Additives do not take away the water, however the calories are counted as food.

from my little knowledge i feel that the water in coffee and tea does indeed hydrate you.
As for as the X amount of cups of water a day you need, that is a little misleading
Most of what we eat contains water fruits, Vegetables, pasta, rice, oatmeal, bread, even a lot of meat...Etc..

Thank you for your contributions @Old-Fit-Biddy @fair0147 @alexw4375! I do think this would count as water or that it wouldn't really add more calories to your day, in any case the amount of calories would be minimum for sure.
This will change if we add sugar and milk to our coffee, like I do! 😁☕

Your body uses the water in tea, so I would think that you should count it. Dont forget to add the water in milk, coffee, soups, stews, vegetables, potatoes, meat, etc. Your body will use all of this water.
Also if your pee is always clear, your consuming too much water.
