Desire to Gain Weight

I know, I know, I'm a lucky duck. My problem revolves around GAINING weight. If I stick with a solid routine for several months, I've gotten myself up to 114lbs. If I stop my routine (had been dealing with painful knee problems), boom...right down to 104-106lbs. Yes, I do eat, and mostly eat well. I have a stressful and physical job, and mostly do cardio with some core and free weight training on my days off.
Though this would seem like the best problem to have, it's actually not a good/healthy thing to perpetually be underweight. I am also hypothyroid (yes, hypo-, not hyper-).

I know many people are on a weight loss journey, and I support them 150%! But, I'm seeking information on gaining and maintaining a couple pounds (shooting for 110lbs), and there isn't a whole lot of information out there. Anyone familiar with foods, diets, powders or specific workouts (must be low impact) that may help me here?

Thanks

Very active people need more calories because they burn more calories. During the Olympics, there were articles all over the internet about how much Michael Phelps had to eat to maintain his weight. I would think lots of protein, lots of carbs, but I don't know. I would say, think about it as an athlete or a weight lifter, and check out their diets.

Hi there @mail_debaser! Many people might think that gaining weight is very easy, but it actually isn't and it might become a hard goal to reach. I would say you also include more protein to your diet instead of other foods that might help you gain weight but not be that healthy to eat.

Also, see if you can change your workout routine a bit so you don't do that much cardio. My best recommendation is for you to check with your trainer and a nutritionist.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! I'm working on getting more proteins and healthy carbs into my diet, and eating smaller meals more often.
