EAAs

I'm trying to understand why most essential amino acid supplements provide a total of only about 9 or 10 grams of protein per serving, but still claim that are equal to a serving of whey concentrate that provides 40 or 50 grams of protein. I understand that EAAs digest almost immediately, but that still doesn't explain the claimed equivalence. If I am shooting for about 160 grams of protein daily for muscle maintenance and growth, how does a serving of an EAA powder that provides only a total of 9 or 10 grams fit into my goal? Is it really only 9 or 10 grams as the label says, or is it equal to 40 or 50 grams of whey, as many of the ads claim?

The equivalence is for the amino acids, not the protein content.

So for example 10 grams of the EAA powder has the equivalent amino acid profile of 50 grams of whey protein powder.
