I've begun using my FitBit to scan food that I eat but I have noticed that 50% of the time, the bar code results do not match the box labels. For example, a food I scanned says 125 calories on the box but the FitBit scan result shows it as 110.
Also, is there a way to remove foods I have already scanned without it coming out of a day when I actually ate it? I tried some new food last week, entered them into my FitBit app, but I don't intend to eat them again yet they appear in my options of food choices and I don't see how to remove or archieve them.
Thanks 🙂

I have noticed that scanning food is not that accurate. It get pulled from a massive data base. It picks what comes close.
I dont use it my self. It was cool in the beginning. But then lost its spark as its not accurate.

That makes me sad. I'm wondering if the database is being worked on?

I don't usually purchase items that I could scan but the time I did use it the item wasn't in the database. It then allows you to enter the information I think. So, it could be a case of someone keying in the incorrect information.
However, I have noticed when buying something I've purchased before that sometimes the calories change. I don't think I've ever seen them go down. I only caught it one day because it was a pre-packaged item I've bought in the past and it was say 130 cals, but when I picked up the pack to buy at Costco it was 140 cals this time. This tells me that either the recipe has changed or they've been caught under-reporting. I think you're going to find this anywhere people can add items. I sometimes use myfitnesspal to guestimate when I eat out. Just for fun go over and type in large egg (tons of options and slightly different calories). Sometimes I think a larger database just creates more possibility that it's off.

Im pretty sure its not Fitbits data Base. Most these scanners pull it from a huge data base that is out there.
