Fitbit vs My Fitness Pal

Can anyone tell me why Fitbit is telling me I am over by 142 calories when MFP says I have 700 remaining? I log everything into MFP. Do I need to change a setting in Fitbit? The numbers were slowly moving down on the scale until yesterday. Not sure which app is right now. Does anyone else have this problem?

Same problem today. Fitbit says I am over by 233...MFP says I have 589 to go...what’s the deal?

It's because Fitbit counts calories throughout the whole day. It doesn't know how many calories you are going to burn until the day is over. MFP works differently. It works with absolute numbers so it assumes that you burn always the same number of calories ( while for Fitbit it's variable ). When linked with Fitbit it does adjustments which at the end of each day should give you similar numbers in both Fitbit and MFP. You may notice that even if MFP shows you 500kcal it may start plummeting if you stay less active for remaining hours ( or if you exercise it may go up ). It's important that you will set a proper activity level in the settings so the adjustment may get more accurate.
