HR users: Increased heart rate after eating?

A lot of times after I eat dinner I will have a heart rate around 100-105.  My average rate is 71 per my dashboard.  Usually between 75-90 during the day.

Anyone else notice increased heart rate after eating?  Should I have any concerns about going over 100?  I hear that it should always be under 100 if you are not active.

I’m a female and honestly I thought about that too. My symptoms became problematic after I had cosmetic surgery 2 months ago. I’m 40.

I would suspect hormonal changes. I was 35 when I went through all the usual heart tests. I followed by depression and 3 years of therapy to sort myself out. Never suspected menopause at that age but was all done at 40. Smooth sailing after that.

Yes, this turned to depression which is what I’m battling now! It’s horrible! Did your pcp order the blood work or did Endo do it? I’m sure I can have my pcp do it but wondering if I should go to a Endocrinologist....

I experience an increase in my heartrate after eating a high fat meal too but it happens sometimes 3 to 6 hours later. It usually it 103 to 123 bpm. Is that normal? Has anyone experienced that after a high fat meal?

HR increases because of elevated glucose in your blood....

It happens to me all the time. For me it’s the salty food that is the worst culprit. The beta blockers my doctor put me on have helped immensely.

I’ve been experiencing this too for the last few weeks. My normal heart rate 55 - and spikes to 77 after my evening meal.

To everyone who’s joined this thread...

If you pay attention, is it more frequent or more pronounced after a high
carb meal or a meal where you ate more than your normal amount?

Spikes to 77... right. How about spiking to 177 bm. For two hours. That's a problem. 77 is nothing.

This is called Roemheld Syndrome or Gastic cardia. There are many causes and many different ways this thing presents in each one of us who has it. For me it isn't necessarily the carbs, but sometimes certain fats. Something like any kind of greasy or oily crackers will set me off, but something like an apple or ice cream will not. So the carbs are irrelevant. It seems to be the fats that get me.

I will add, sometimes needed to burp can be a cause. I find that if I lay down on my stomach or get in my knees and lean forward sort of in a fetal position for a minute or two when I go upright again a massive burp will show itself. This can help, as can drinking a couple of glasses of very cold water. Sauerkraut seems to help as well.

But you are on the right track Each person should make a note of what they eat and what happens after and for how long. Because that is truly the only way to identify triggers and eliminate them.

If you are on beta blockers best to keep an eye on your blood sugar as these drugs will cause insulin resistance.
