Hi Everyone!
How are you, I wanted to share a little of my experience with you.
Last weekend I went to my parent's for lunch. I missed mom's cooking so I overindulged and ended up with an indigestion. Instead of going for pepto or something of the sort I asked for a sage tea and a little pastis, neat, afterwards. And that was it, pains and cramps gone after a little rest. Sage was a medicinal plant my parents had on a book about them, pastis was a little hack for indigestion my Grandma shared with me once.
At home, my parents and I have always been firm believers that if you can find a cure to something in nature it is preferable than to spend money in medication. Not because it doesn't work and it is definitely not a replacement for medicine when it is necessary. But there are always little situations like a stomach ache, a little flu, a sore throat; all of which you can treat with plants, and it is less drastic for your body, it is integrated slowly into your system. While pharmaceuticals will probably give you a quicker result it is more aggressive on your body, and also, you cannot grow the pill in your backyard.
Here is a list of other usefully plants for your everyday ailments, and best of all, you can find them at the grocery store!
Do you know of other helpful plants or little remedies shared in the family, I would love to expand my knowledge of this!

Hey @SunsetRunner thanks for sharing these tips! I agree with you, natural it's better! I have used thyme infusions for my allergies days, it is not only nice to taste with some raw honey, it helps with the congestion and it has antimicrobial properties.

@CindyFitbit Definitely infusions and medicinal beverages can be used a lot to help with mild health conditions.
Funny you should mention honey, I have used this beverage a lot for sore throats: A third of a small glass of honey, one lemon, cloves and thyme into the microwave. Once it is hot ( careful not to scald yourself) you drink it slowly. It will help with your throat a lot!.
Also for throat infections you can use Ocote ( it is the bark of a pine or similar three full of resin) and you can use it with Camomille or other teas, it will help fighting off any possible infections

Love it @SunsetRunner! Nature is cheaper and safer. I do really like to use honey for a sored throat, and lemon and baking soda to help my stomach.
Thanks for the remainder! Have an awesome Monday! 🙂

@LucyAP Just be carrefull with the baking Soda, My dad had food poisoning once and Mom gave him baking soda but she was afraid and nervous and gave him a spoonful instead of the little dose Dad needed.
When they tell the story to friends dad likes to use the cocacola and mentos experiment as an analogy for the results.
Cheers!

Is the green tea considered as a healing herb? If you don't consider it as a healing herb, I'd like to share some benefits of this great plant or beverage:
1. Green tea contains various bioactive compounds that can improve health.
2. Compounds in green tea can improve brain function and make you smarter.
3. Green tea increases fat burning and improves physical performance.
4. Antioxidants in green tea may lower your risk of various types of cancer.
5. Green tea may protect your brain in old age, lowering your risk of alzheimer’s and parkinson’s.
6. Green tea can kill bacteria, which improves dental health and lowers your risk of infection.
7. Green tea may lower your risk of type ii diabetes.
8. Green tea may reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
9. Green tea can help you lose weight and lower your risk of becoming obese.
10. Green tea may decrease your risk of dying and help you live longer (of course, we all have to die eventually. That is inevitable.) however, given that green tea drinkers are at a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer, it makes sense that it could help you live longer.
I hope this may encourage you to start drinking this awesome plant.

Yes, I totally believe in the power of the plants to cure certain things. For example, I have suffered insomnia for years now and what I've been doing is that I take an infusion of Valerian root, Passiflora (passion flower) and Verbena every night if possible. This relaxes me a lot before sleeping and then I just fall asleep and get the coolest dreams too.
If you suffer insomnia, try that out!

@SantiR I have to try that on my sleepless nights. I had tried passiflora alone and it is a great relaxant but I have not mixed it with the rest. I will look into that.
@SunsetRunner I was about to drink some tea and was wondering what to choose. Now I know what to get! I knew green tea had nice perks but I didin't knew it was that many.
To the tea pot!
