How do you record your food?

ANSWERED

I don't record food/calories because it seems such a huge faff. But maybe I should?

I cook everything from scratch, often measuring ingredients by eye. I often make a load of bowls of different things and then serve myself a little bit of everything while at the table.

I'd love to hear any tricks you use to make recording food intake easier.

I record my food because I am on a plan to lose weight.   Unless you are on a plan to lose, gain, or maintain I don't see a need for you to record everything.  When I make things from scratch, I create a meal in the app,  even though I don't measure everything, I can guess pretty well how much.   For the way you cook and serve yourself I think it would be far too complicated.

I *am* trying to lose a bit of weight, but at the mo am just eating a bit less and a bit healthier, which seems to be working out for me. I love data so would enjoy tracking calories (and it would probably motivate me to eat slightly smaller servings), but I'm also too lazy to spend ages working out what numbers to input 😂

I, for example, do not have any tricks.
Since I lost a lot of weight and do not watch the calories as much, I already approximately understand my eye my norm per day.
I just try to write down what I eat, at what time, and how often.
And frankly speaking, I do it in order to combine food and I was not bored with it and did not want to eat something unhealthy, that it would be a variety of food.

I document /record my food as I eat it, but I also find myself looking it up before I eat it. I know I have a lot of calories to play with in my day, but I also don't move as much as many of you guys, as I am disabled. So, I want what I put into my body to be a resource, not a recreational chow. I go low fat with my protein choices, like chicken, fish and lean meats. I also go low sodium, as I don't want to retain water or get my BP in an uproar. I have an air fryer and make my own "fried" stuff at home. I don't eat much bread anymore. I tend to lean more toward tortillas/wraps. These small choices have dropped me a pants size this month alone. I am still really new to FitBit, but I am learning. I use all of the tools. It's not just a tool, it's a commitment to yourself. You bought this for yourself to better yourself. Why not get everything you paid for? You deserve it! We all do! Hugs!

It's just the hassle factor - I can't be bothered to estimate/input all the ingredients of every dish I make, and then weigh out whatever I serve myself. I was just wondering - somewhat hopelessly - if anyone had any tricks they used to make the process easier.

I'm happy with how things are going anyway. I'm making steady progress, my jeans fit again, and I'm over half-way to my weight loss goal. The only real motivation was to have more fun data to play with.

I record my food daily for over a year now. Sometimes it is hard to remember what I ate but I log as I go. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. I like to keep track of my macros. If I forget exactly what I had or forgot to weigh it, I will guesstimate. At least I know what type of food I ate.
