As it is not easy to write everything down while at a social event, does anyone have ideas of how to estimate nutriion values of food ate at social events?

My solution eating at social events, cocktail parties, etc., is to ONLY eat items that are "meal worthy." This accomplishes a couple of things: 1) You eat fewer individual items, 2) If you need to write them down later you can easily remember. 3) Limiting yourself to a few items will automatically limit the amount of food you consume. 4) You're only eating nutritious items.
Ps: If you can't find anything nutritious then don't eat anything at all. I realize you might be limiting yourself to garnishes, but maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you do find to eat. Most of all, Have fun!

Thanks. I was hopping I could add a "meal" worth X number of calories, carbos, fats..... and use it for these type of social occassions. Just sucked it up and looked up the foods in the database and tried to find something close for dishes that folks made at home.

I created a food called MISC with 10 calories that I use. I just estimate how many servings of 10 I eat. I don't track protein, carbs, etc this way but at least I have a *filler* for the number of calories. After a while you get to know about how many calories are in certain foods so you can make better choices..
