Long Car Drive after Holidays - how to stay alert and avoid snacking

ANSWERED

I have a long car ride home ahead of me after the Christmas Holiday.  When I get too hungry I get sleepy and doze off.  I know I have to eat and might have to eat some fast food.  What is the best way to eat on a 7 - 10 hr car ride.  I already did 30 min of activity for the day this morning to get a head start.  Thanks.

I stop often and do quick laps at rest stops.  It adds to my total time, but for the next hour I feel better.  I also listen to podcasts, they can be riveting.  I listened to Oh No Ross and Carrie and their 9 episodes on Scientology, fastest car ---trip ever!

For food, I plan ahead and yelp it and choose salad places.  I get out of the car to eat.  My 7 hour trip takes me 9 hours.  But I just feel better than when I tried to rush it.

I would take along some fruit that is easy to eat while driving. Like Apples. Or even those pre-sliced apples in small bags

Thanks!  That is mostly what I did.  I went for 1 mile walk before the car ride and then packing it up with all the suitcases burned a bunch of calories too.  For lunch I had a zaxby's fried chicken salad and ate only 1/2 half of the bread, then I had a Kind Bar for a mid afternoon snack and then a medium coffee and a Kind Bar about 4pm.  We got home around 7pm and I did ok.  I also tried to do some stomach crucnches while I was driving.  I finished about 600 calories under for the day as a whole.
