Snack on the go

I work at lot of hours and don't have tones of time to get a lot ready for work. I crave food in general but lots of sugars. Any suggestions for snacks that I can keep in my cabinet at work for snacking during the day. I don't have a fridge at work that I can get to easily so it would have to be at my desk. I can not eat anything to hard because I have weak teeth, so things like nuts are out of the question. I don't like popcorn or yogurt. I love bold flavors like buffalo and chesse or anything spicy really.  Oh who am I kidding I love food in general when I feel hungry enough to eat. Everyone keeps telling me to stop skipping meals so I am trying snacking. I have tried crackers but they are high in sodium and other snacks are high in sugars. I do have a sugar problem and that is an issue too.

I really need something easy grab-n-go and healthy that taste good, does that even exist?

Please anyone I need help I am sick of being a hefalump... 😞

Heya, plenty of things like this exist but depends how large you want your snack to be!

Generally I snack on cereal bars (you can get soft ones made of oats and fruit), Fruit - bananas are good for energy and strawberries & raspberries are great because you can eat loads for hardly any calories - quite a lot of sugars though but it's natural sugar at least.

Unfortunatley not many cheeses are low calories.. but I know that some places sell little portions of cheeses.

You could buy a salad and put a good flavour like salsa or hummus with it and then add some cheese in it too.

How about bread? A couple of slices is 200 calories depending on the bread and you could just put a healthy spread in it. Peanut butter is high calories but good for protein and energy so good in moderation, or you could get a cheese spread as you like cheese, there are low calorie cheese spreads around, or just have a fuller flavoured one but less of it! Try not to constantly snack on bread though as the calories do pile up!

I also eat low calorie/fat crisps - not sure what country you're in, but if you're in England then crisps like pom-bears, french fries, skips and quavers are low in both.

If the place you work isn't too hot then you could take a small portion of milk into work along with some small boxes of cereal and have a bowl of that.

If your work has a microwave then you could take a tin of low cal soup.

Hope some of my suggestions are helpful! And remember to drink lots of water as sometimes when you think you're hungry you're actually thirsty 🙂

I do have a microwave at work. However, I did try some fruits and that was nice for a while but I noticed more was going bad before I could eat it. I am try to get a system down where I can restock once a week the stuff at my desk to make things a little easier with my crazy life. Also, I thought breads and such was bad for belly fat... Is that not true then? I love bread and pasta, but can not have a lot due to sugar issues.

Thank you so much for you reply. I did not know if anyone would help me or not being so many entries are on here in a day. I simply don't have time to surf through so many. That is why I posted. Easier to keep track of one then many. 🙂

depending on what you're looking for, i have a couple suggestions.  (note: i'm eating low carb so i also avoid bread.  these are the things that work for me.  obviously, i don't count calories. yet, i still managed to lose weight)

pork rinds (don't buy the flavored ones - the ingredients should list only pork skin and salt.  keep some hot sauce at your desk if you want to spice it up)

cheese - bring some cheese from home every day.  it'll be fine sitting on your desk for the day while you snack on it

hard boiled eggs - at the beginning of the week, make a dozen eggs.  every day, just bring a couple with you in the morning.  they'll be fine sitting on your desk for the day.

dried coconut flakes - good to snack on.  just don't get the sugared ones

coconut oil - i love this stuff.  i sometimes keep a jar at work and just eat a teaspoon if i feel the need.  good, healthy fat and very satiating.

I do like eggs that is a good idea and I can make it last all week... Do I chill them after boiling to keep them good?

yes.  boil and peel them.  then just keep them in a container in the fridge.  grab a couple as you head out the door and you've got yourself a nice little snack, or even breakfast.

i've also been known to cook up a pound of bacon on sunday.  then i'll take a couple strips to work with me and just leave them on my desk to snack on for that day.

again, i don't count calories. so, if you're looking for low calorie, these are probably not the right choices for you.

Well there are lots of microwavable healthy snacks that you could take, some soups are so low in calories they can be only 100 calories for a whole tin. Also not sure if you have them where you are but innocent meal pots are great for a larger snack.

Bread isn't great, not sure about belly fat but it deffinatley bloats. I tend to eat very little bread - maybe 2 slices a week or I just have a day where I allow myself something like a bread roll with my soup, or crumpets for breakfast.

No problem. 🙂
