An interesting (for the carb-lover in me!) infographic by Precision Nutrition:

Thanks for sharing that information. I like both - but the regular potato (for me) seems to require a lot more help to make it taste good. The sweet potato I can eat by itself without any seasonings or added calories.

I love any potato, but I don't really eat them as a rule. for the nutrition vs calorie- to me its not worth it. However, once in a while I will eat a small sweet one with a little salt and maple syrup- YUM.
@Ukase- the Cleese quote- hilarious.

I prefer potatoe. It adapts to nearly every recipe I know !
Ever tried fried potatoes with some fried onions and fried beacon pieces?
Ever tried potatoes with soused herring in creamy sauce ?
Ever tried potatoes boiled with some mint and served with egg ?
All this doesn't combine using sweet potatoe, sweet potatoe is just to sweet to adjust well to proper lunch meals, to me, it's more something for breakfast or a light dinner.
But I guess it's a matter of how you have been raised. I was raised with " proper " potatoes, I started to really recognize sweet potatoes when I was much older, and at the time it was only used for barbecues, as some type of grill potatoe.
