The Daniel Fast and it's health benefits

So I have started a 40 day Daniel fast, which began on ash wednesay. Today marks the 10th day for me. If anyone who doesn't know what the Daniel fast is you can refer to the book of Daniel 10:2 in the bible, but here is my break down: for 21 days Daniel refused to eat the King's food that was offered him instead he ate no meat, and no pleasant foods, during this time his focus was to gain a better connection with God. A more structural approach to this that I took was, I do not eat any meat of any kind this includes fish. I only eat vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, all natural oils, and water. All natural herbs are allowed this includes salts. No FOODS WITH ADDITIVES OF ANY KIND INCLUDING HONEY! No sugar, and no sweetners with -ose on the eding, such, high-fructose corn syrup, and absolutely, NO ALCOHOL! And most importantly try to pray atleast three times a day, worship in any way possible whether you listen to gospel music or take time out to read some bible scripture. All of these things should be done to seek a closer relationship with God. Fasting in this way not only helps to purify the spirit, but the mind and body as well. I'm finding myself to be more energetic and closer to God. Although this is not my main focus, I am beginning to see a little change in my weight to and his is a great feeling! Now, In the beginning I was a bit skeptical of whether I would be able to do it, but the more I pray, the easier it is becoming for me to resist temptation and this is coming from a mother who cooks hearty meals for her son daily, so the temptation is definitely there. But with strong faith and will power I can see this being something I do more often. I think everyone should try this maybe not for 40 days, but at least 21 days like Daniel did, it is really good for the mind, body, and soul. Ok, I hope you all learned something from this, I love you all, and I pray that everyone has a healthy and blessed weekend.
