I have read that coconut oil is amazing to support weight loss, especially in the AM and acts as a stimulant (i.e. coffee) as well. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? Is it really as great as it sounds?

i love coconut oil. 3 times a week, i put it (and a tablespoon of butter) in my coffee and buzz it up. makes for a great breakfast. i also cook with it quite a lot. i've been known to just eat a spoonful as well on mornings that i didn't want coffee. you can get a 6lb container of organic coconut oil at costco for about $23.
as for helping with weight loss, it depends. if you're eating low carb high fat, then yes, i believe it can help as far as keeping you satiated (and it's just delicious when used to make fat bombs). if you're eating high carb low fat, i probably wouldn't recommend using a lot of it though.
here's my post with some info on low carb high fat:

Love coconut oil too! And got the big organic tub from costco too!!
A scoop in my coffee in the AM. Sometimes a bit in my breakfast bowl (need to post that recipe soon!). Great to use in cooking too (as is grapeseed oil) due to high heat tolerance and not turning into something bad for you like canola, EVOO (note: much of this is allowed these days to only partly olive oil mixed with GMO canola...ew!!).
I don't take it for weightloss purposes, but for healthy sources of omega oils and and such.....

From what I heard coconut oil is the only oil that your liver will process and not store it as fat. And it's great for fat intake on your macronutrients. If I'm running low on my fats (I'm trying to keep fats at 40%) then I use coconut oil for cooking and scoop of natural peanut butter! I also hate the taste of coconut, and it doesn't taste like coconut at all. It's awesome!
