Hello, @lillyvegan! Welcome aboard! Congratulations for being vegan for a year and a few days now! Heart

Thank you for sharing your recipe blog!

I am not a vegan yet, I am vegetarian for 4 1/2 years now. I will become vegan once I have the time to cookRobot LOL, since I don't really have free time between work and school. Yeap, I'm a student of Environmental Engineering, how about you?

I follow a mostly vegan diet.  It is helping me lose weight and to combat my diabetes.  Two of my favorite sources for tasty, free vegan recipes are www.fatfreevegan.com and www.vegnews.com. Fat Free Vegan has a lot of good sandwich recipes, so I don't feel like I'm eating nothing but salad at lunchtime!

There's a Kindle book on making vegan cheeses that's pretty good. I do okay without cheese as far as 'eating' goes. I kind of miss it in cooking, but so far I've managed--and 'Vegan Gourmet' shreds will make a pizza look passable. Mainly though, it's all about retraining the taste buds, yeah?

Try Daiya artisan block cheddar cheese, melt a little in q sauce pan with some cashew milk- pour over stir fries! Delicious cheese sauce!!!
Follow your heart makes amazing bleu cheese and mozzarella cheese slices (hello delicious grilled cheese!!!)
Whenever I start to miss dairy (which is really the only thing I ever miss) j think about my lactose intolerance, how crappy it makes me feel, and how the dairy cows are treated (look up "dairy is **ahem**ing scary" video on YouTube)

Hello, @stonetalker! Is it too hard to make the vegan cheese? What do you need? Yeah maybe at first I will be hard but then I'll feel better. It is like quiting any other addiction. 😕 I think there is actually some chemicals on it that make you crave it like I do. What do you think?

Hello, @lillyvegan! I know, I know all about it, I've seen some horrible videos too, and guess what? I am lactose intolerant too, makes my stomach weird.

Wow, you are studying two at the same time? Or is it one? Sounds really interesting, how long do you have left? I love psychology, the mind is everything. I'm actually done with the semester, but I have some assignments between semesters, but only two weeks more and I'll have vacation!

Thanks for your support guys, I will start soon I promise! My friend, @SunsetRunner, has been motivating me a lot, he is a vegan too! 🙂

How is it goin' @SolangeE ? Thank you very much for tagging me on this amazing thread 😉 Yes I've been vegan for 3 years now and I'm just feeling great! I was a meat and cheese lover but also was sick all the time and didn't understand why. One day my wife (she was a vegetarian) saw a video where you have this vegan activist named Gary Yourofsky ( I know all of you have seen it) and she asked me to take a look on it. The next day I was quiting everything, and since that day I've never been sick ( crazy right?). I practise a lot of sports (Crossfit, Krav Maga, Weights, Rugby, Swimming, Running) and I've been improving in every sport.
At the beginning I was willing to become a Men's Physique athlete so I bulk up to 250 pounds ( I was 200 pounds, crazy on a vegan lifestyle ha?) Now I'm shredding, and my target is 230 pounds with 7-10 % of body fat ( I'm not going to compete anymore but it is just for a personal achievement). In one month I've lost 8 pounds without starving or anything so it's exciting :D!

Yep, that's my little personal experience 😉 I give you all a vegan hug and wish you a wonderful day!

I've not found it hard, no, but then I've not tried to mimic dairy cheese, either. I'm not one for finding replicas; I prefer to teach my taste buds to appreciate new tastes and textures.

I totally agree with you @stonetalker. I'm eating raw half of the day and it's just fantastic 😉

Hey, @SunsetRunner! Thanks for sharing your experience! Heart

@stonetalker, You are right is not that hard, I just have to find something vegan to love as much as cheese and yeah teach my taste buds, mushrooms could be the best option, I love the texture! I'm with you on that, I don't really like food that tastes or looks like meat either, is not the same with cheese for now but will be! Man Happy

Hey, @dagucrew! Thanks, you are so kind! I'll try to make it this weekend, if I find all the ingredients and let you know how it goes! 🙂

SolangeFitbit, studies show that some people are addicted to the casien in dairy products. That might be why you're having such difficulties in giving up cheese. I am a big fan of the portabella mushrooms--just watch Quorn products, though, as they have egg white in them. You might find this video interesting, maybe even a launchpad for you do do some further sleuthing. Good luck!

Yes @SolangeE I agree with you and @stonetalker 🙂 Mushrooms are a good option. I'm a pizza lover and when I make some I love to add a lot of cheese, (Yummy).

Thank you for adding me to this group once again, I love it!
