WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based) group on the app

I recently created a Whole Food Plant Based group on the app.  Unfortunately the app only allows closed groups.  So if you would be interested in joining this group, just sent me a friend request and I will send you an invite to the group.  From there, I believe members can also invite their friends.  I did this because WFPB is slightly different than vegan or vegetarian and I wanted a place to share recipes and how eating this way has affected your health and lifestyle.

@SunsetRunner I'm glad to see you here. Guatemala is a great place to do some other activities besides hiking up mountains jejeje, you can visit Get Moving Forums. You can ask some options there.

@sproutmaven Thank you for sending him a friend request.

Just saw your post and sent friend request. Used to be vegetarian but couldn't get the weight to stay off. Recently discovered WFPB via Dr. Greger at nutritionfacts.org. Thanks for starting a group!

Hi @WeeWren, thank you for reaching out to the Community. You're totally right, consuming more calories than your body can use, whether it comes from carbohydrates, protein, or fat, results in weight gain over time. Good thing is that you have the help of a nutritionist.

@SunsetRunner I'm also interested in that group, I've sent you a friend request.

Dr. Greger at nutritionfacts.org is where I started.  I really appreciate his approach using research that has been tested using human placebo controlled studies for the final recommendations. ("let's put it to the test!"😆)  He cross checks his references and then checks again on his references, all sources and research, especially who is funding the studies.  If nutrition information came from his site it can be trusted.  If he gets additional data he doesn't hesitate to update his recommendations.  Any money from his cook books or other books goes back to funding research.

I lost 40lbs and dropped my cholesterol way down and have easily kept both down for 3 years.  It took me about 3 months to become fully WFPB.

I am looking forward to having a focused group.  I prefer choosing what I eat for health and not so much avoiding food as a cause.  The benefits are fantastic for the environment, but the bottom line is that one can eat potato chips and beer and be vegan.  The way I eat is a conscious health decision, every day.
