Hi everyone and Merry Christmas! Just got my Fitbit Force and am wondering what's the best protein for breakfast? I make my own breakfast smoothies during the week and usually add protein powder to them. Right now I have Pure Protein Whey 25 mg, I bought this from Walmart. Is one protein powder better than the other?

Leftover chicken, right off the bone. Full of protein! If I'm in a hurry, I sprinkle a piece (I like thighs) with salt, put it in a baggie and stick it in my front pocket. By the time I get to work, it's nice and warm. Yum. I'm good until lunch.

Happy Holidays! Don't over think the protein powder too much. Consuming protein on it's own will not bulk you up. It does feed your muscles though and your body will thank you for it. Whether you use whey protein, pea protein, etc, aim to keep whichever brand you use as simple as possible, i.e. one with the fewest ingredients. Whey protein concentrate is usually the best protein to get for general nutrition, it is typically gently processed (although all brands can be different) and usually has a mild flavor. Whey protein isolate is heavily processed and doesn't typically have the nutrients (i.e. amino acids) that a concentrate would, however, is has a lower lactose amount if that is something you are sensitive to. I use Mike's Mix Whey Protein, it is just protein. There are no sugars or flavorings in it and I use it to add to my meals if I'm not have eggs for breakfast 🙂 I will add it to my oatmeal or I make fruit smoothies with it if I need something to have on the go (let me know if you need any recipe ideas for smoothies, I'm an addict).

Have you checked out Mike's Mix whey protein? It's just straight up protein with nothing added to it. It has been the best value protein I have found on the market. I checked out the Body Fortress stuff and that has a bunch of fillers in it.

My favorite filling breakfast that's low calorie, filling and pretty good on protein is 3/4 cup Kashi Cinnamon Crumble stirred together with Yoplait Light Greek Yogurt (fav is apple pie flavor) and sprinkled on top with cinnamon. Yummo! Less than 300 calories and over 20 grams of protein plus it fills me up.

Good morning. Just wanted to share my favorite new breakfast I have been having every morning for the last week or so. very yummy and filling! 2 large eggs (whole egg not just whites), 1 cup kale salad (I get these bagged salad kits from kroger) The salad has bean sprouts and purple cabbage, stay with me here, its actually really great! Then I add two slices of the purely simple ham, some broccoli and red peppers. I also add avacado if I have any. I like a TSP pf gorgonzola cheese or some shredded parmesean and top with cherry tomatoes and cracked black pepper. I wasn't sure I would like the kale in my eggs, but super yummy and healthy. my breakfast averages around 340 - 360 calories and has so many vitamins, from veggies. I usually serve with some slices apple or bluberries. Keeps me going until lunch time! Hope you will give it a try. I would love some breakfast ideas! Heidi

Each Sunday, I make Egg Pucks, freeze them, and just microwave them each morning, snack or evening - whenever I want them. Take a large bowl, add 12 eggs (or just whites), add some turkey bacon/sausage, and any veggies you like in omlets. spray a muffin tin. divide up the yokes between the 12 cups and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool, bag individually and freeze. Yummmm

Love plain non fat greek yougurt with fruit and granola for breakfast. It keeps me so full! I love using no sugar added frozen berries, but also bananas! I find that adding banana really cuts the tartness of the yogurt, which is helpful for those that don't like the tartness of greek yogurt. Personally, I LOVE it! A dollop of greek yogurt instead of sour cream has been one of my favorite food substitutions.

Hi, I find that if I am going to play tennis (3 x weekly) or going to the gym, a breakfast of lightly scrambled eggs or a banana is just fine. Any more than that and I feel sluggish. Important to eat at least 2 hours before exercising. Other days I find porridge oats with almond milk & fresh fruit will keep me satisfied until lunchtime salad. Good luck, happy eating.

I make a bowl of quinoa and then stir in a large spoonful of greek yogurt and either a few good sprinkles of cinnamon or a handful of fruit ( like raspberries or blueberries) and top it off with a little vanilla soy milk. It's very filling (holds me til lunch and beyond)!

Huh, I had never thought of eating quinoa as I eat oatmeal. Isn't it a bit tough to digest? How do you cook it?
Also, has anyone tried savory oatmeal?
I (mistakenly) bought 4 pounds of instant oats and I'm not really craving sweet breakfasts

I just bought a FitBit Charge HR Saturday. I'm not currently using the food calculator, but I plan to in the future. I travel a good bit so I have to eat meals at restaurants frequently. For breakfast I eat McDonald's oatmeal and a large black coffee....... I like it so much I eat it when I'm not on the road as well!
That's the only thing I eat at McDonald's. I'm convinced they put crack in everything they serve That's why I want to eat it everyday! I know there's healthier oatmeal out there, but in whole scheme of eating breakfast on the road, this doesn't seem to be too bad of a choice.

My protein breakfast consists of a 2 egg omelete with grated cheese and sliced turkey (or left over chicken) with a little salsa on the side. Sometimes followed with 6 ounces of orange juice and some coffee.

Hello, I use a whey protein or oatmeal if I have time after workouts on my way to work. I usually use fresh fruit, kale and yogurt, which is filling and I dont eat until lunch sometimes.

I stay away from gluten and dairy, the gluten brings on inflammation in my sinuses and the dairy congests me. However I don't seem to have a problem with eggs. I love chickpeas but have not had them for breakfast, I may need to try these!
