Anybody working with the wheat belly diet?

Well, I can see what your strategy is, high protien eh? I have been trying to remove the grains and all derivitives from my diet, but I have faltered over the last week. I definitely feel better when grains are not part of my intake. I have 80 to 100 lbs to lose. Is it a specific diet you have used? If so, can you tell me what it's called please?

well...it's not exactly high protein. excess protein can convert to glucose and cause an insulin response. so, what i'm doing is low carb high fat (LCHF). there's a lot of websites out there about it.
and just remember, there's no reason you need to spend money buying anyone's product to be on this (or any) diet. all the info and recipes are out there for free. but, i don't mind searching around for information.

i've also discovered that starbucks will make a latte for you using heavy whipping cream instead of milk if you ask. sugar-free vanilla latte with heavy whipping cream.
i just wish i could order it by saying "sugar-free vanilla fatty latte, please".
Ok, is it sad that I can admit that I have melted a couple tablespoons of butter and added my vegetables to it on days where my fat ratios were low? Well, it was fun the first couple times ... just seems awkward to " drink" the fat from my dinner veggies. :):)
And you must have special Starbucks - because most of the ones I go to don't have heavy whipping cream, so I end up ordering a " sugar-free vanilla 1/2 breve, 1/2 skinny latte" .. could drink ordering possibly get more complicated???

double check at starbucks. the whipped cream they put on top is usually made at the store with heavy cream. so, if they offer whipped cream on top, they should be able to make the "fatty latte" for you.
and i usually help my fat ratio along by eating a teaspoon or two of coconut oil. you could also make some fat bombs for yourself.
1/2 C coconut oil (melted)
1/4 C unsweetened cacao powder
2-3 Tbsp splenda
1 tsp vanilla
makes about 8 1Tbsp servings (really depends on what mold you use)
mix everything together and pour into silicone mold, put in fridge (not freezer). they should be set after an hour or so. keep them in the fridge and it makes a nice, fatty chocolate treat. we got a couple silicone ice cube trays at target that work perfectly. i've also added some orange extract to my latest batch. delicious!

I didnt even think about the whipped cream -- I was thinking of the liquid form .... sheesh!
And thanks for the reminder about the fat bombs. I have learned to halve my recipes.. the last batch i made got freezer-burn taste.. yech!
I found that the little ice trays with the rubber bottom works best .. the little suckers pop right out!

well, since they make their whipped cream from scratch, they should all carry the liquid form as well and be able to make you a fatty latte.
fatty latte - i really need to trademark that term.

Geez! I can't get my head around this HFLC. I have had either an apple or orange every day forever! They are both so high in Carbs. I knew I am a carboholic but it's even moreso than I thought! At this point the HF is going to require more convincing (meaning reading more). It' like starting from scratch!

there's no reason you still can't have an apple/orange every day. maybe just spread it out throughout the day instead of eating it all at once. also, the amount of carbs you eat per day on LCHF can vary from person to person. you have to find the amount that works for you. personally, i stick to 30g or less every day. it's what works for me. others do a higher level like 50-60g.
that said, i do indulge a bit every so often with no adverse affects. i still had some mashed potato, stuffing and pumpkin pie over the holidays. but, i found that just a small portion appeases my the craving (as opposed to when i was eating high carb). and, even with some more indulging, i still managed to drop 6 lbs over the holidays.

Anyone have a recipe for BulletProof tea? I'm not a coffee drinker but have been following the wheat free diet for some time. I've used coconut oil in my tea or hot chocolate but would like to go dairy and sugar free also. Hard to do.

You just do the same thing but with tea.
Add MCT oil and (grass fed unsalted) butter to tea instead of coffee.

I used the calculator that tells you based on your weight and BMI how many Carbs, Protien and Fat to take daily. Do you agree with this calculator?

this one? http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com
in general, yes, i do agree with this calculator. it's not prefect though and you'll need to do some additional tweaking. but, it's a good place to start.

you're welcome. the graph it generates is fairly accurate. it's usually within 1-2 lbs of my current weight. just be sure to go back every month or so and re-calculate your ratios.

i know it says to use unsalted butter, but initially, all i could find was Kerrygold Salted. so i just used that. a couple months later i found the Kerrygold unsalted. you know what? i miss the salted! i got used to the slightly salty taste. so, i've just started adding a pinch of salt prior to blending.

I cooked a Thai stir fry tonight. Used a little un refined coconut oil to saute sweet onions, scallions, red peppersl, and italian zucinni. Then added a " thai peanut sauce" and then shirataki (tofu) noodles. Ended up addiing a liitle sesame oil (hot) and sirachi to spice it up a bit. Very good!!
Best,
David

I just tried them for the first time this week and I was impressed. they really had no taste at all but with spicy spagetti sauce (sugar free of course) I felt like I was splurging. I found mine at Walmart. They were in the refrigerated section where they kept their ready to bake pizzas, salad fixings etc in the produce area, in a small clear bag.

Glad you enjoyed them. We use them frequently too with soups and sauces. Also use the tofu shirataki which has 40 calories per bag , no sugar, if you're following calories etc. As we haven't been eating pasta, it does feel like a splurge.

Hey!
I just joined fitbit today and the first place I went looking (after some basic questions) was here!
I decided to stop wheat in December. I had done for a period the year before last and noticed some impressive weight loss. Unfortunately I slipped in to laziness and turned to bread.
However, new year, new intentions (including my new fitbit charge hr) ... I'm actually reading the Wheat Belly book, facinating read, quite scary the stuff it's claiming.
After 3 weeks I've already noticed I'm fuller longer, eating and craving less and more keen to exercise, maybe it's in my head or maybe there's a true correlation. Either way I'm sticking to it.
I need to staicke a balance though as it's easy to turn to other carbs such as rice or potato. I've managed to do a work around and use blended cauliflower instead of rice and sweet pots as a replacement.
I'll keep a keen eye on the forum as I'm sure you guys will be full of knowledge.
