is egg an animal protein?

due to my dietary restrictions i am only allowed or suppose to have one source of animal protein a day.  i am curious to know whether an egg is animal protein.  i have done plenty of google searchs and have come up with nothing other than it stating that it is not considered a meat.

I consider eggs an animal protein.  Many vegetarians, unlike vegans who shun all animal products, incorporate eggs in their diets.  For humane and philosophical reasons though, I believe that many vegetarians choosing to eat eggs seek out eggs produced by chickens living in human conditions rather than in factory farming ones--free range rather than caged, etc. I also consider all dairy products animal protein.  For health reasons or restrictions, and if you need to be sure, I would consult your doctor.

I agree with what Stephen1227 said. While eggs are not a meat, they are definitely protein that comes from an animal. They have similar dietary components such as cholesterol, so depending on what your medical condition is and why you are restricted, it would definitely be best to check with your doctor on this issue. So, gotta ask, why only just 1  source of animal protein a day?  why not just ditch it all together and not worry?  PLENTY of tasty options out there.

Animal proteins cause inflammation in the body and in fact deplete calcium from your bones too.  (why places like USA with highest dairy consumption also has highest rates of osteoperosis and pre-osteo.....).

Animal protein is the same whether in an egg, milk, yogurt, beef, pork, fish, and interestingly in a TON of other products under ingredients like 'whey', and 'casine' which are in all kinds of things like bread, cereals, faux meat (morningstar), etc....

Happy to help! and depending on your dietary restrictions, may well be able to help with that too!!

I have some urinary/bladder issues including kidney stones.  My urologist has done some testing and has recommended that I only have 1 serving of animal protien a day, to keep from my urine being so acidic.  I am doing quite well with this and it has made a difference. The thought of a restricted diet makes me stress.  I don't necessarily want to give up meat all together, but I have gone days with not eating any.

I don't know much about kidney stones and medical problems of that type, so I can't make a suggestion specifically for it. I am however lactose and gluten intolerant, so I understand your worry of a restrictive diet being stressful. I agree with the others on here that eggs should be considered an animal protein, but past that I can't make suggestions for what else to avoid or replace in your diet. As for the stress, I've found planning out my meals takes almost all of the stress away. It can be difficult going out to eat, or ordering food when your diet is restricted for a variety of reasons, so I usually combat this by researching online which places have allergen menus and good reviews. You might also want to make a grocery list of all your favorite healthy foods, then create fun meals based on the ingredients you've listed you can have. With a bit of planning, making your own food can take away the stress, and help you realize how many different options there are out there for you, no matter what your restrictions may be.
