14 year old unable to setup Inspire 3 device to FitBit app

My wife and I got our daughter an Inspire 3 for her birthday. She just turned 14 this month, but no matter what we've tried the Fitbit app only displays the three Ace models for her to choose from. We have checked her profile on Google and it shows her birthday correctly. I have logged her out of her Google account on her phone, uninstalled the Fitbit app, restarted her phone and still it is not giving her any other devices options except for the Ace.

I thought that when she turned 14 that she allowed to use Fitbit? What's the point of having these rules about 13 and under children not being able to use "ADULT" Fitbit products if when they turn 14 you still don't allow them to use the device? Please provide me with some assistance because if I have to return this I won't be purchase and Ace or any other Fitbit product for my daughter.

Hello @steelcitykid73 and welcome to the Community.  Do you use Google Family Link or does your daughter have her own "adult" Google account?  Disclaimer -- I don't have personal experience with this.  But other users have posted about this.  A moderator wrote that a user needs an "adult" Google account.

I do use Family Link. I don't see how that should matter to FitBit. She's 14 years old and I am the one purchasing her the FitBit. She's a teen. She doesn't want to use a FitBit that has a picture of a unicorn or anything else on it. Why do I have to stop using Family Link, 'something that allows me to do other things as a parent to keep my child safe', to allow her to use a specific FitBit model? What kind of information is FitBit trying to collect that I shouldn't know about? Why do I need to treat my child as an 'adult' with an 'adult Google account' to let her use her FitBit?

This is incredibly annoying and suspicious to me. I have been reading other users posts and this does appear to be an big issue. Why can't FitBit come up with something that sends a confirmation email or two-factor authentication message to a parent's email address in Family Link to approve the use of the FitBit model that the child is trying to setup if they are so concerned with an account that is still linked to Family Link? I think an actual moderator needs to answer this?

@steelcitykid73   You raise very valid points and I agree with you 100%.  The way to get your feedback to Fitbit is through the Product Feedback forum.  The Product Feedback forum is monitored by the developers.  It seems like this situation is an unintended consequence of Google Family Link limitations.

Fitbit moderators are Fitbit employees (Product Experts aren't), but they moderate for content and and help with device and app issues.  But they don't have access to why Google makes certain decisions.
