Hello @Mamiem and welcome to the Community. If this is a new problem, there might be a new bug in the latest version of your app. Please try the following: delete your Fitbit app, restart your phone, then re-download the Fitbit app.
If the problem is still there, do you use an Android or iPhone? App crashing is usually limited to one platform or the other. What version of the Fitbit app do you have? Tap on your profile avatar/gear icon in the upper right of your Fitbit app > Help & Support. Your post can get moved to a better fit forum, where you might get more help.
