Can't add Inspire 3 to son's app

My son recently turned 13 and has always hated his little kid FitBit because it was too little kid and basically just sucked. So I got him an Inspire 3 for Christmas which is small in size so it's great for a smaller kid. I then learned to my frustration you can't use an Inspire 3 until you're 13. His 13th birthday was two days ago. The app on his phone still only offers the little kid junk and we cannot add the Inspire 3. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change. Thinking this was somehow account related I deleted his account and now it won't let me recreate the account for 30 days.

How am I supposed to get my son's now six months old FitBit working for him? He keeps asking about it and from everything I have read there is absolutely no reason he can't use it now.

Hi, @ScottLindner , apologies for the late reply, and hopefully you have solved this issue by now, but in case you haven’t, or anyone else is reaching the point where their child is ready to “graduate” to an adult account (13 in the USA - it varies elsewhere depending on country or jurisdiction) you can get lots of information by checking this help article describing how to manage a Child Account in the Fitbit App.

Please pay particular attention to the section “When can my child manage their own account?”  And “How does my child upgrade their account”.  The instructions are slightly different depending on whether you (adult account manager) log in with a Google Account or a Fitbit Account and the article will guide you either way.

The really good news is that this means that all the data from the child account will be transferred to the adult account.

The date on your post indicates that you must be nearly at the point of restoring the account.  Alternatively if you don’t care about keeping the data from the child account and transferring it, you could just set up your son with a new account altogether.
