Can't use child account with Inspire 3

We just got an Inspire 3 for my 13-year old son. We try logging into the fitbit app with his supervised google account but we get an error saying "This Google Account isn't supported yet".

It's very frustrating that we can't get his account setup. Are we missing something? How can we work around the issue?

Thanks.

Hi, @Bert19 Fitbit child accounts are only able to be used with Fitbit child devices.  The Inspire 3 is an adult device and therefore not eligible to be attached to a child account.

The good news is that at 13 your son is eligible for an adult account and then he will be able to connect his Inspire 3.

It sounds like your child has a Google account. In that case soon after he turned 13 he should have received an email inviting him to take charge of his account.  Here are the instructions:

  1. Open the email message in their inbox with the subject line "Ready to take charge of your Google Account?"
  2. Follow the instructions in the email message to take control of their account. For more information, see the Google help article How Google Account work when children turn 13 (or the applicable age in your country).
  3. Open the Fitbit app, tap Upgrade, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once he has an adult account he can install his new Inspire 3.

You can get full info about managing child accounts, and the upgrade procedure here .

Unfortunately, without upgrading to an adult account your son will not be able to have the Inspire 3 attached to his account.  He will be able to use devices in the Fitbit Ace series.
