I bought the Inspire 3 to track down sleep problems. I sleep very badly, sometimes less than 3 hours a night and never more than 4. This is why I purchased the Inspire 3. Turns out one needs at least 3 hours to get sleep stats.
Can anyone suggest a device that measures sleep under 3 hours?

Welcome back to the Fitbit community, @tomcam!
Sad to hear that you're having issues with sleep tracking on your device. I'd suggest setting up a sleep schedule to improve sleep tracking accuracy. Please have a look at "How do I set a sleep schedule in the Fitbit app?" following the link below to see how to do that:

You might also try changing sleep sensitivity to get better results. See "What's the difference between the normal and sensitive sleep setting?" in the link I've provided above for more information on that. Also, as your Inspire 3 needs to be able to constantly read of your heart rate to track your sleep, please make sure you're wearing you device accordingly. Please have a closer look here for more information about heart rate tracking:

@tomcam Can you please clarify something? I have experience with several Fitbit models, just not the Inspire 3. All of my Fitbits record sleep periods for less than 3 hours, but for me they are naps. These short sleep periods always show sleep patterns, not sleep stages. You need more than 3 hours to get sleep stages.
Are you saying that you are getting records, but they just show sleep patterns, or are you not getting any sleep recorded at all?
