Does Inspire 3 Provide Elevation During Excercise if Linked to Phone

I may just be missing it, but was surprise that when the Inspire 3 is linked to phone and excercise correctly started from the Inspire 3, that data does not include elevation gain and lost.  You would think it would be available since linked to phone GPS and map.

@Randquest , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message.

The Inspire 3 does not have an altimeter. That's why it cannot calculate altitude based on atmospheric pressure.

Fortunately I was aware it didn't have an altimeter and it would not provide flight of stairs so no surprise there.  What did surprise me was when linked to phone and having access to GPS and maps, it didn't use this information to determine and provide elevation gain/lost.   Since you know the route, there are a number of data sources that could have been tapped into that would provide this information.

@Randquest go to https://www.fitbit.com/activities

Choose the exercise, you should see a graph of your altitude. The fitbit app doesn't display this data.

Got my hopes up as I only use the app, but unfortunately when I selected an activity that was linked to phone when doing... I only see Pace, Heart Rate, calories burned and Impact online.

@Rich_Laue is that screen showing activity tracked with Inspire 3? I doubt.

@Randquest you won't have elevation without altimeter. Fitbit uses altimeter for finding the elevation and devices that have been stripped of it (Inspire 3, Charge 5) do not track the elevation.

No not with the Inspire 3, but of a Charge 5, which doesn't have a barometer

In any case, during a walk, run, bike, altitude changes are calculated by GPS.

The barometer, while it kind of will work, accuracy will be affected by wind

When recording a walk, useing the fitbit app on the phone, the data from your tracker will be ignored
