Hi @MEP3.  The Inspire 3 has an Auto-start feature that will start the Exercise app for six shortcuts: walk, run, bike, elliptical, rowing, and spinning.  There are the steps to turn this off (or it will happen every time you knit):

  • Swipe left/right on your Inspire 3 screen to the Exercise app and tap on it
  • Scroll through the list to find Spinning and tap on it
  • Swipe up and you will see the settings for that workout
  • Look for Auto-start and toggle it off

All Fitbits look at movement patterns using a piece of hardware called an accelerometer.  The accelerometer "sees what it sees."  There is a chance that your Fitbit will interpret your knitting motion as something else.  Be prepared to turn off other activities if this happens.

All Fitbits can track activities a different way, a feature called SmartTrack.  This feature is controlled in the Fitbit app.  These activities are tracked in the background.  You get an exercise record after you are done.  If your knitting triggers this feature, there are two paths to control this:

  • Tap on your Exercise days tile, then the three dots on the upper right.  Tap on Activity settings, then scroll down to Auto-track activities.  Turn off any activity tracked by accident.
  • OR tap on your profile picture, then Fitbit settings.  Tap on Activity and the rest of the steps are the same.

Hi @MEP3  it's not a glitch, it's the fact that these are wrist based trackers. Guitar players, drummers and ASL users have all mentioned having unwanted steps or activities tracked. Fastest way to avoid it happening again would be to remove it when you're knitting. You can also remove it by following the steps in this article - click to read

I know all this, thanks still for providing the extra info.  This is my second fitness tracker, I am aware of its features, it’s just the first time it has happened at all with the amount of knitting I do, was funny to happen.  😂
