Find my phone app isn't working on my Inspire 3

The Find My Phone is not working well on my Inspire 3.

It does not make a loud sound UNLESS the Fitbit app is open. If the app is not open, or even just open in the background, it makes next to no sound or a tiny beep that's too soft to hear. Sometimes, the Fitbit will tell me it can't find my phone even if it's right next to it.

I have tried restarting my phone (Android) and reinstalling the app.

It has been very frustrating trying to find my phone and having the Fitbit not working for half the reason I bought it.

Hi there, @yaylaura. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that the Find My Phone app is not working properly. I understand how you must be feeling, I will do my best to help you with this!

As a first approach, I'd recommend checking if your mobile device meets the requirements to properly operate with your Fitbit device. For more information, see Fitbit Compatible Devices.

Please keep in mind the following requirements in order for the Find Phone app to work properly:

  • Your smartwatch must be connected (“paired”) to the phone you want to locate.
  • Your phone must have Bluetooth turned on and be within 30 feet (10m) of your Fitbit device.
  • The Fitbit app must be running in the background on your phone.
  • Your phone must be turned on.

To find your phone:

  • Open the Find Phone app on your smartwatch.
  • Tap Find Phone. Your phone rings loudly.
  • When you locate your phone, tap Cancel to end the ringtone.

If the issue persists, see How do I troubleshoot apps on my Fitbit device?

  • Device is compatible - Android version 12.
  • Bluetooth is on - as I state in my post that it makes a tiny beep.
  • I am close to my phone - as I state also in my post that sometimes the Fitbit says it cannot locate my phone even though I am right next to it (as in the Fitbit is on my wrist and the phone is in my hand).
  • App is running on the background and all requested authorizations were provided.
  • Clearly, my phone is also turned on.
