Recently, my FitBit Inspire 3 has been calculating an insane amount of Zone Minutes.
Example: Yesterday I was driving for several hours and while the weather was terrible and the roads horrific (massive snowstorm, whiteouts, drifting snow, etc. that required a great deal of concentration as well as the ability to plow through snow drifts and/or go around the impassable ones and though it did take some arm strength as testified by my sore shoulders post-drive) there is no way I put in over 1,000 Zone Minutes.
Today, I walked the dog for little under an hour but earned 140 Zone Minutes. Granted I was trudging through ankle to knee-deep snow and when there were paths they were very narrow and carved out of much deeper snow simply by the use of other walkers pressing down on the snow, so, yes it was a bit of a workout.
But to award over 2 hours of Zone Minutes for under an hour of walking seems a bit much.
How am I to get physically fit and know my true fitness levels when things like this occur?

Don't forget it awards two zone minutes when you are in vigorous or peak zones for every one minute you do, so maybe it was that?

Getting 1000 Zone minutes is significant!
What are your heart rate zone ranges for moderate, vigorous and peak? Maybe those ranges got set too low somehow.

Zone rates are as follows:
Moderate: 84 - 92
Vigorous: 93 - 102
Peak: 103+
Note: I did not set up these rates.
Are you able to advise?
Thanks!

Those heart rate zone limits are very low.
Click the icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Today screen and then navigate to Fitbit Settings > Heart Rate > Heart Rate Zones and make sure that Custom Max Heart Rate and Custom Heart Zone are not checked.

Click the 'You' icon in the lower right-hand corner of the Today screen and then 'Edit Profile' at the top of the screen to make sure that your height, weight, birthdate and gender are correct as well.
