Fitbit app not showing Map / Route once exercise finished

Hi, I’ve seen a few posts on this and I’ve followed instructions there but nothing seems to fix it. I’ve even moved over to Google.

I’ve noticed recently that maps / routes are no longer showing on exercise when tracked. So yesterday rather than using the auto detect on the Inspire 3 I went into the app, hit + and Exercise to start. Once finished hit pause then finish. A map route was shown which was positive. Thought I’d wait until I got home to review the map.

The exercise showed under the Exercise Days tile, when I click that it shows Walk duration, distance, average pace etc.. See Heart rate zone graph and Time in each zone but there is no map though it showed after I finished the walk.

I've tried going through all tabs but unable to find? Any further suggestions?

GPS must be explicitly enabled for exercises that use it with the new FW update and GPS can only be enabled on the Inspire 3 itself.

Swipe left/right on the Inspire 3 until you get to the excercise, like run, that you were interested in, tap it but do not press Start yet.  Then, swipe past Start to see all the other user-defined options for that excercise, such as GPS, and switch GPS to 'ON'.

You will only need to switch GPS on once for each excercise that uses it, so it isn't really too bad, but it would have been nice if Google-Fitbit did a better job with their release notes to make it clear when changes like this are made.

Thanks Bill_209. Will give that a go on my next walk. Will the map show now for all my auto detect for walks?

Out of interest when I set track in the app yesterday it showed the map once I completed the walk but once I had done it was no longer available?

To the best of my knowledge, enabling GPS once per excercise type will keep GPS enabled for those auto-recognized excercises going forward as well.

The temporary map that you got yesterday was probably just some leftover artifact associated with the device FW or app SW.

Evening, so not forgotten about this just having some issues.

I set gps on my inspire 3 for walks. Today managed to get out for a walk but after 800 steps the auto detect walk hadn’t picked me up doing any exercise so I started a walk on my inspire. When I got back I paused then finished. Stats appeared under exercise but no map. Had the usual steps and included were the heart rate measures.
Tried to set another exercise off using the app but only managed 10 mins before stopping. Apparently that wasn’t enough to record - though it appeared to show a map but as not enough info to save that was it, lost.
Going to have to give it another go tomorrow from the phone app.

I have checked iPhone settings to always allow location, background app refresh and all other settings are on.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow…

You will need to explicitly turn GPS on for various exercises, including walks, after the latest device firmware upgrade.

Just swipe to the Walk exercise on the Inspire 3 device and tap it, but do not tap Start yet.  Then, swipe past Start to see all the user-defined options for that excercise, including GPS, and then switch GPS to 'ON'.

After doing that, GPS will always be enabled for the Walk exercise going forward and maps of the walk will be provided again.

Hi Bill_209, GPS was set as you described above and is still on.

Ill be trying via the app today.

Could this be why my walk showed I went all over the place and not the route I actually walked?  I had to delete the exercise and put it in manually. It even said I took about 1000 more steps than I did!  I always manually start my exercise on the app anyway because it rarely picks up on it by itself. I did go and do as you said.  It looked like my GPS was already on.  Who knows?  Every change they make seems to screw up other things or be totally useless.

Wow, it looks this device FW 'upgrade' really managed to seriously downgrade the Fitbit User experience.  I feel sorry for anyone who spent 2X to 3X the money to purchase a Google fitness watch, because fitness products are clearly not Google's strong suit.

So works selecting exercise in app but not via device. Nice downgrade from my previous device! (Inspire HR)

at least know what to do. Bfn129 might be worth trying for phone app…

So @MartyFit I experienced the exact same thing yesterday - i.e. it showed me the map, distance, etc at the end of the run but when I go back to it, there is no map and it only shows my heart rate. By the way, I did that using the app - I always use the app on the phone to track the GPS.
Another issue that is even more annoyed is that I've finished couch to 5km recently, and of all my runs, only 2 are still there, the other 25 simply disappeared!
I contacted Fitbit yesterday and they assured me the data isn't lost and it's just a bug in the app. Fingers crossed!

Morning @Polacamania , @Bill_209 @Bfm129

seems there maybe a bug to be fixed? Think will see how goes but keep tracking via the app and hopefully they’ll consistently appear at some point.

Good day @Polacamania @Bill_209 @Bfm129

there must have been an update as when I went into app today it gave me one or two new features to review. Anyway, looked at exercise on the off chance and as I was out walking last night but didn’t try to log any walking. I have 2 logged walks automatically picked up and both now have the map showing.

Happy days 😁

Thanks for the guidance and also reassurance it wasn’t just me 🤓
