To my dismay, my brand new fitbit (inspire 3) isn't compatible with my Samsung Galaxy 8 Plus. Never would I have thought that I would be in this position as I've had fitbit in the past that worked fine with my computer. I guess fitbit isn't in the cards for me and this inspire 3 will have to be returned.

Hi @IzzyIsch I’m sorry, but Fitbit ended Windows syncing several years ago. The minimum Android version is Android 11 and your phone can’t upgrade past Android 9.
That model is over 8 years old and no longer receives security updates from Samsung. Time for a new phone?

Yes, same issue here.. Inspire 3 worked fine - synced just fine - on my phone for months at the beginning of the year...
Then recently, FitBit changed something, and it no longer works on my phone... Android 9...
And no, the answer is not a new phone.... It's a different fitness tracker brand...
