When I'm on the treadmill it says I walked 2.4 miles and my fitbit days I only walked 1.3 miles.  Why?

Hello @PatC70 and welcome to the Community.  Your Fitbit uses your walking stride length when you use Treadmill in the Exercise app on your Fitbit.  It calculates a steps x stride length distance.  Treadmills measure distance using the belt movement and is pretty good if your treadmill is maintained.  It's nearly impossible to have a Fitbit distance equal a treadmill distance.

There is a very general guideline that there are 2000 steps per mile (emphasis on very general).  Your exercise details have the step count.  If it looks like your Fitbit is undercounting your steps, make sure your arms have some natural swing and do not hold the handrails.
