How do I get suport on a Fitbit that wasn't registered with a Gmail address?

About 1-1/2 years ago, I purchased an Inspire 3 with a 2-year extended warranty. After the latest update, I'm having a problem. When I call support, they want me to "authenticate". Unfortunately, they only accept authentication for Gmail addresses. My Fitbit wasn't registered with a Gmail address. This means I can't authenticate it .
Horrified by what Google has done to a great product.
