How to set up an account for a child turning 13?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My daughter has recently turned 13, but still cannot connect with an Inspire 3 on her Fitbit application (still those Ace models only).

I suspect that's because Fitbit has not updated her status accordingly.

Any idea ?

Hi, @Cafuccio , your child will now need to set up a new account, rather than being a child on your account.  She can still use your smartphone if she doesn’t have her own phone, or if you prefer still to have oversight.  You can have two different accounts on the same phone but you will need to log out of your account and log into hers (and vice versa) in order to access the separate accounts.

Thanks Julia !

But how to "set up a new account", as she already uses her Google account on the Fitbit App ?

Ah, that’s an interesting question!  You could simply delete her child account and that would make the email address available again, but deleting a child account takes time - I think it is a week or more.  If she is impatient I would suggest that the easiest way would be to set her up an additional google account that she uses especially for Fitbit (maybe just FB to her account name so it is easy to remember).  For lots of reasons it can be useful sometimes to have extra accounts, and you can actually access them all via the original account.  If this sounds like it would work for you (and her), please have a look at this help article that gives instructions for setting up an additional gmail account.

@Cafuccio   Do you use Google Family Link?  Many users post that Google Family Link limits choices to the Ace series.
