We’re excited to announce that a firmware update version 210.26 for Inspire 3 has been released to all our members. Some of you might already have this update available. If you installed it, let us know what you think!

We release updates to customers in phases. If you don’t see it, check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

  • You can now easily check the time while in exercise mode.
  • Your device can now auto-recognize 6 workout types: running, walking, biking, elliptical, rowing, and spinning.
  • All exercise modes are now available in the Exercise app, and your most recently used modes appear at the top. For more information, go to How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?
  • We changed the names of the heart-rate zones for clarity. For more information, see How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device?
  • Thanks to advanced Google ML, heart rate tracking accuracy during exercise has been improved to provide you with more precise info on important metrics.
  • This release includes bug fixes and improvements.

Full release notes can be found here.

Another Fitbit user (not an Inspire 3) I know had an issue and also got this offer. Maybe that's how they 'fix' everything.

1) Needed forum help to sort out enabling GPS for exercises that can use it - not at all obvious. Easiest would have been to carry forward prior GPS settings vs not enabled.

2) Using phone's time zone settings not working at all. Even though toggle is set to automatically update, reality is I need to go into time settings, switch off automatic "use phone time settings" to manually set correct time zone. Automatic has failed with every time zone change.

Otherwise, update is solid and interface is subtly better.

Hi see ny post a month ago. Support insisted nothing had changed with zone minutes on update. Amazon replaced my inspire 3 .. I have not updated the new one and my zone minutes are back to normal. Proof I think that something changed.

Lap tracking has stopped working properly. Despite setting lap at 1 mile it seems Fitbit just divided total distance into equal number of laps and shows weird pace per mile.

The latest Luxe firmware update somehow destroyed the battery, which is well documented in other discussion threads. I too was offered the 35% discount. Sadly, the regular Luxe is no longer available, so I switched to the clunkier Inspire 3, which I received and activated yesterday. This morning, the app is telling me a firmware update is available. Having learned my lesson the hard way with my beloved Luxe, I immediately checked the forum to find out if people were reporting widespread problems with the latest Inspire 3 update. I think I'll stick with the 188.58 version that it ships with! I am so sorry for everyone who is having issues, but grateful to this community for documenting them.

Dear FitBit,

Do you have an ETA for when a fix is going to be deployed for all the issues that this update created, specifically the erroneous heart rate problem? At the moment this has reduced my FitBit to an expensive pedometer.

Read the posts here about the update to the Fitbit Inspire 3. The update ruined many Inspire 3s and we are waiting for a fix. Kindly respond.

Since update on Inspire 3 I no longer get any of my sleep data which is crucial to my medical teams. Please get this adjusted ASAP. This is peoples biometrics that to some are life and death.

My Inspire 3 is now registering 500 to 600 zone minutes. Previously was under 40. This appears due to the “update”?

I understand how important it is for you to get the best experience out of your device. Since we've already covered all the troubleshoots and your Fitbit is no longer covered by our warranty, there's nothing more we can do at this point. Your feedback matters to us and has been a great learning tool as we continuously strive to improve our products and services. Thanks for understanding.

I purchased my Fitbit Inspire 3 last month. I don’t believe the warranty has expired.

I'm so disappointed in this update which seems to have altered my smooth operation of my fitbit and monitoring my exercise. As a longtime user of Fitbit I am losing confidence.  Firstly, the deletion of weeks worths of exercises at a time. Making it look like I did nothing for 2 weeks when I know in fact I did. Then to top it off the gps is not linking to show distance when I have completed and exercise. I can't even change it in settings. I am now looking at other fitness trackers unless this can be sorted, as I exercise daily and want to monitor my progress

@Kjwhite

I was missing some sleep metrics too and found that "health metrics" button setting had gotten turned off. Probably happened when I was playing with all the settings to try to fix the stupid exercise tracking display bug. But I didn't realize right away that this button turns off skin temp, O2, and some other tracking settings (and all the history data too!). It's worth checking...it's under the pencil on your dashboard. (Turning it back on did not restore historical data, so I may have to wait three or four days to find out if its tracking again). Seems like I got premium and less stuff works... 😞

Another forum member helpfully showed me how to get GPS working (it's not very intuitive). Go to the exercise on your Fitbit (for example, "walking") and start swiping UP to see settings you can set. One of them is GPS, which you can toggle on. Many, if not all, of the exercises have settings you can access by swiping up. Why Google didn't send out an email with a link to instructions for the revised interface is beyond me. Very big changes were made, and we've been left to sort them out for ourselves. Good luck.

It looks like FitBit is not paying any attention to this thread any more.

I had another classic example of the inconsistency yesterday:
55 min brisk walk - 45 AZM
Having breakfast & shower - 21 AZM !!!
12 min brisk walk to gym - 4 AZM

So last Thursday 10/17 my Inspire 3 would no longer connect to my Android phone. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with a customer service tech who eventually told me I needed to order a new device.  I received the new device yesterday, and it is doing the same thing. Called customer service again and now they are telling me it is a software issue.  WTH, and there is no information provided by Google/Fitbit to its customers. I've worked with computers for most of my career. I know we have had issues with Windows updates that messed up some of my programs so I just went back to the latest update that worked.  Should not be this hard. I have a case number if needed. I am looking for alternative trackers today.

Yes, after all I've read so far and many (many!) frustrated hours it's definitely all caused by a f#@%ed up software update, upsetting every android owner. 🤞that they'll fix it soon.

I just imagined a person just having bought one and start with this (2.28) update. I know mine would've gone back to where I bought it from. Am also too poor to buy a new phone and/or tracker every year.
